Firstly I would like to thank all the members who elected me to the Federal secretary’s role, and I personally would like to congratulate all of the newly elected members of the Federal Executive. I appreciate the confidence shown in me by the membership and consider it an honour to work with such an experienced and well rounded team.
On November 28th 2009, the Democratic Labor Party of Australia held their first Federal conference in over 30 years and with a new-look team representing members from around the country, we can finally once again offer the people of Australia a real alternative in politics at both the national and state levels.
2010 will bring more challenges in the Federal sphere. While many regard us as the party that lead the way against the CPRS, the prospect of one of the major parties agreeing to, or coming to a consensus is still quite high. The government’s stimulus is leaving the coffers bare, and the CPRS would not only have provided the government with a new lucrative tax revenue stream, but would have allowed them to declare that they were doing it for our own good.
This year the government will again look at the tax system, as it braces itself for the debt and the interest that will have to be paid back to foreign banks. It seems that whatever the cause, the people of Australia, will be the ones left to pay. Calls for the establishment of a Federal Development bank have fallen on deaf ears in the political system, but have continued to gain support by senior economic advisers.
The absolute discrimination against women who chose not to outsource their child care and infant education will again be unleashed by both sides parliament. The traditional family will no doubt once again suffer as real choices are removed from our young families.
The DLP will continue to present practical solutions to difficult issues that our competitors are either incapable, or lack the desire to do so. The traditional family will again come under attack as governments both state and federal try to establish a new meaning of family values by allowing same sex unions with the right to adopt from an every decreasing pool of available adoptions. Tax payers will be required to fund IVF and other services, as our governments attempt to redefine and diminish the importance of our familles and the important role they provide our communities and our nation as a whole.
Yes 2010 will be a big year and let’s hope that by the end of 2010 we will once again have a voice in the Federal Parliament. I wish all the candidates that have nominated for seats all the best in the upcoming Federal/State elections and remind members that we are still looking for men and women of good character that have the drive to stand up for our principles and policies.
Our membership continues to grow rapidly and now is the time for people wishing to enter parliament, to come forward and make a stand to defend Australia’s Judeo Christian heritage.
To remove some of the barriers that have been placed on our farmers and manufacturers, by being forced to compete in an anything but a fair or free market.
