“On behalf of the DLP, I congratulate all the Queensland Unions contributing to the "Queensland Not For Sale" campaign, and I applaud theQueensland Not for Sale website,” said Tony Zegenhagen, Queensland’s DLP Senate Team Leader.
“Premier Bligh's attempt to display solidarity by requiring ALP parliamentarians to link arms and stick together on this issue is more appropriate for a high school cheer squad than for an important political issue which, thank goodness, the Unions are taking seriously. The DLP unreservedly supports the "Queensland Not For Sale" campaign and stresses that Queensland jobs must never be sacrificed on the altar of privatisation.”
“This issue is above party politics and it is now time for politicians with the courage to stand up to the Bligh/Fraser government, to make a stand and defend these assets that are so crucial to the prosperity of our great State.”
“Swapping income bearing assets for foreign debt is not, and never will be the best policy and has led to QRail buying up many of these failed attempts in other states around Australia.”
Tony Zegenhagen concluded: “Queensland parliamentarians willing to defend the assets of Queenslanders against the threat of multinational or foreign ownership are invited to apply for membership of the DLP.”
