“The Henry Tax Review threatens to penalise parents who decide not to outsource childcare." – DLP Senate Team Leader Tony Zegenhagen/
Queensland’s DLP Senate team leader Tony Zegenhagen warns that the Henry Tax Review is expected to recommend reducing Family Tax Benefit (FTB) B.
Family Tax Benefit Part B gives extra assistance to single parent families and to two-parent families with one main income, where one parent chooses to stay at home or balance some paid work with caring for children.
Tony Zegenhagen said “The DLP joins with Kids First Australia in opposing any reduction in Family Tax Benefit B to any child, including school-aged children.”
“FTB B was introduced by the previous government to compensate single-earner families who cannot income split. However, the FTB B does not even fully compensate single income families for the loss of the extra $6000 tax-free threshold enjoyed by two income families.”
“The Henry Tax Review threatens to penalise parents who decide not to outsource childcare,” said Mr Zegenhagen.
Reducing FTB B would punish "parental childcare", when the Federal overnment already gives TWICE as much public money to families using daycare and other "stranger care".
